1- Bad Managers List: The 24/7 Emailer

Some managers are deluded into thinking that that staff members are slaves and should work at all times of the day. They are people who lack experience as managers they have not worked as junior staff members they were made managers from day one.

Some managers are deluded into thinking that that staff members are slaves and should work at all times of the day. They are people who lack experience as managers they have not worked as junior staff members they were made managers from day one. Some organizations think that because an individual has a degree let’s say an MBA or even a Ph.D. this automatically gives them the ability to manage. Wrong people have to work in a junior position for a period of time at least 1 to 2 years to actually understand how lower level staff work and are treated by superiors. Let’s get back to the late-night emails, a manager just got an idea that staff members should start working on the idea as soon as possible so they send an email at 11:00 pm or even midnight, thinking that staff can start working on the email early in the morning. Every manager should learn that sending emails in the middle of the night is very, very, very bad for morale. Staff members who receive such emails always say does this manager think that I have nothing better to do with my life than read his or her emails. Don’t this manager have a life. Such actions are counterproductive and stop creativity again people start looking for new jobs and will not give any creative ideas as they feel this manager does not deserve any help to do the work.
